Start with where the photographs will be used
A branding shoot becomes much more valuable when we know the destination. A website hero image needs space for text. A LinkedIn portrait needs a close crop. Instagram stories favour vertical frames. Planning these uses in advance helps us photograph intentionally.
Build a simple shot list
Your list might include a clean portrait, a relaxed portrait, working at a desk, interacting with a product, speaking to a client, using tools of the trade and a few wider environmental images. The goal is variety without creating dozens of staged scenarios.
Choose a location that supports the brand
A consultant may need clean professional surroundings; a creative business may work better in a textured studio or outdoor environment. The location should reinforce what the business does and who it serves.
Bring more than one layer or jacket
Small wardrobe changes can create noticeably different sets of photographs without turning the session into a fashion shoot. A jacket, overshirt or different top can extend the usefulness of the gallery.
Natural does not mean unplanned
The most relaxed-looking branding photographs are often carefully prepared. Good planning removes uncertainty so that the actual session can feel easy and conversational.
